Jagmohan Kaur: (16 April 1948–6 December 1997) "koel" of Punjab. 

Jagmohan Kaur was born on 16 April 1948 to father Gurbachan Singh kang and mother Parkash Kaur kang in Pathankot, Punjab. She was raised in her native village BoorMajra (now Ropar district) and she received her primary education from the village school. Then she joined Khalsa High School, Kurali and then Arya Training School, Kharar and done J.B.T. and also worked as a teacher. Later, learning music from Kanwar S .Mohinder Singh Bedi,she left her job and started singing.

She met singer K. Deep in Calcutta during a music program. They formed their own group and later got married on 2 February 1971; which was love marriage. The couple had a daughter, "Billy" Gurpreet Kaur Mada.

She is known for her songs like Bapu Ve Add Hunni Ain, Ghara Wajjda, Gharoli Wajjdi. She also sung duets with her husband, singer K. Deep, and the duo is well known for their comedy characters Mai Mohno and Posti. Jagmohan Kaur, the erstwhile ‘‘koel’’ of Punjab, was popular with her songs and captivating histrionics as “Mai Mohono”, with her husbansd K. Deep acting as “Posti. Poodna is another notable song by the duo. She acted in a Punjabi film Daaj and also sung as playback singer for many others including Sukhi Parwar and Do Jattiyan.

She died in young age December 6, 1997 in ludhiana. Now Both K. Deep and his daughter, Gurpreet, ‘‘Billy’’ to her friends, want to perpetuate the memory of Jagmohan Kaur, an all-time great Punjabi folk singer, who like Shiv Batalvi died young.
