On January 20th, 2013, after 6-weeks of preparation, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community – Women’s auxiliary, held its 26th Annual Interfaith Symposium. The topic this year was-“My Religion’s Solution to World Peace” and the event was attended by more than 350 women at Baitul-Islam Mosque, in Maple Ontario; the Canadian headquarters for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The speakers included Dr. Monolina Bhattacharyya-Ray, Ms. Tracy Layne, and Dr. Karen Mock who shared Hindu, Christian and Judaism perspectives respectively. At this event, Ms. Sanmukh Kaur presented the Sikh viewpoint and Mrs. Hina Kausar shed a light on Islamic view at peace according to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Among were presented many women from all walks of life, and from political sphere,

Liberal MP Judy Sgro’s office, Constituency office manager Antoinette de Jager and Member of Vaughan Council, Marilyn Iafrate and from the office of Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua also attended this event.

As ideas were collectively contributed about how an individual can make all the difference by sharing, caring and looking at everyone as God’s children; the idea of Organ Donation was brought to table for discussion through a presentation by Loveen Kaur Gill, representing Trillium Gift of Life as well as Amar Karma Organ Donation Society.

All these phenomenal presentations, spoke of the love that is cultured and nurtured in each family, which ultimately brings back all the happiness to our homes, since the peace from each home spread to our societies is what leads to the world peace.

The event was summarized at the end with a theme that- all the religions must come together to reach the common goal of world peace, and women should take a leading role representing their families at such gatherings.
